The construction of the fourth lane from Newmarket to Greenlane could bring savings of $1m a week according to a recent article in the New Zealand Herald.

 

On a site barely 5m wide in places, major retaining walls were constructed to achieve an extra lane on an important part of Auckland's southern motorway.  The project, which was completed in April 2011, has not only eased traffic congestion, but has also provided significant lifestyle improvement to over 50 adjacent homes.

 

Significant challenges were faced and successfully overcome, resulting in a high quality, simple, elegant structure that hides the complexities of its construction.
